Alex & Zoe at Alt Road Wines | An Otway Hinterlands Wedding

This day truly was the A to Z of love. The most iconic of weddings to date.
From emotional getting-ready moments with sisters, to giant tiramisu on the bar, dusty dance floor chaos, and one VERY iconic outfit change, Alex & Zoe’s wedding at Alt Road Wines was the perfect reminder that weddings do not need to be overly formal to feel incredibly special.
I knew from the moment I met Zoe at a market that these two were going to have immaculate vibes. Their wedding was only a few months away, but somehow by pure luck (and honestly fate), I happened to still have the date free.
The entire day felt effortless in the best possible way.
Relaxed. Warm. Fun.No awkward pressure. No rigid formalities. Just a whole lot of love and people genuinely having the BEST time together.
The food slapped, the music was banging, drinks were flowing, and every single person there brought the energy.
And then… Zoe disappeared halfway through the reception and came back out in an absolutely BANGING mini dress, bride slippers, and a sparkling necklace from Mrs. in the Making.
Not only did she climb onto the bar with the fkn HUGE “Just Married” tiramisu by Bake Me Cake Me, but she genuinely modelled her arse off whilst everyone else lost their minds.
Honestly? Iconic behaviour.
One of my favourite parts of the day was sneaking away for 10 minutes with just Alex and Zoe for sunset portraits.
Zoe originally wasn’t super keen - which honestly is SO normal. Weddings can feel overwhelming and sometimes the last thing you want is more photos. But the second we got out there, the whole energy shifted.
They slowed down. Shared a gnocchi. Had a cuddle and some giggles.
And THAT is exactly why I always tell couples that portraits don’t need to be stiff, overly posed, or take hours away from your guests to feel meaningful.
The result? Some of the most romantic, joy-filled photos of the entire day - and they were back partying with everyone within 15 minutes.
Something Alex & Zoe absolutely nailed was their timeline.
The morning was calm and relaxed, their family first look allowed time for portraits before the ceremony while makeup and suits were fresh, and the entire day had enough breathing room that nothing ever felt rushed.
Which meant they actually got to EXPERIENCE their wedding day instead of sprinting through it.
And honestly? That’s the secret to natural wedding photos.
Alt Road Wines is such a ridiculously beautiful venue for couples wanting a relaxed, intimate wedding in the Otways. Between the vineyards, towering eucalyptus trees, warm festoon lighting and insane sunsets, the entire venue photographs beautifully from start to finish.
The romantic, slightly wild florals by Sally Wright Flower Studio suited the venue perfectly, while Zoe’s stunning gowns from KYHA brought the perfect mix of modern and editorial energy to the day.
And THE SUNSET. My GOD.
The colours got so insane that Alex and I were literally running across the venue trying to drag Zoe outside before it disappeared.
Absolutely worth it.
The reception energy somehow only got better as the night went on, fuelled by woodfired pizza from Pete's Woodfired Pizzas, oysters from Finn's Oyster Bar, incredible food by Padella Melbourne and an absolutely elite soundtrack from Lewis Pidutti Music.
If you’re planning a wedding in the Otway region and want something romantic, relaxed and genuinely FUN, I could not recommend Alt Road Wines more highly.
And if you’re looking for a photographer who’ll hype you up, calm your nerves, help your timeline flow naturally and capture the in-between moments just as much as the big ones - I’d absolutely love to chat 🤍
